Nigella Lawson lends support to the Oracle Cancer Trust

I am very proud to lend my support to this venture. This March it will be twelve years since my late first husband John Diamond's death from tongue cancer, a tragedy that is not diminished by time. But it is important to be positive, to recognize and be grateful for the progress that has been made, thanks to the many pledges made in his name following his death and at his own behest.

Diamond Club

Oracle Cancer Trust has a vision to establish a national research centre for head and neck cancer in central London that will enable current fragmented research activities to be consolidated on to one site. The Trust will create and fund research teams in these laboratories. The total cost of realising this project is approximately £10 million.

With the help of patients and supporters of the Trust the Diamond Club has been established as part of our fundraising strategy to raise the necessary funds. Becoming a Club member will offer:

an opportunity to be involved with significant advances in the treatment of head and neck cancers that account for 8% of all cancers in the UK, but in some Asian communities this rises to over 30%
the chance to be part of a network of like-minded people who are striving to achieve the same end
the opportunity to meet with other members, head and neck cancer specialists and other support staff at special event(s) throughout the year
regular updates from the Trust
recognition at the Research Centre on completion of the project

To help achieve our goals, the cost of membership to the Diamond Club will be at a very generous level and may be spread over three or five years. Tax benefits, detailed below, based on current levels of Gift Aid and relief will apply to both the donor, and the Trust.
